THE GA RING GUIDE

Eternity rings,explained.

A meaningful ring. A very personal choice.

An eternity ring is a band set with a continuous row of gemstones, traditionally symbolising lasting love. Full eternity rings feature stones around the entire band; half eternity rings feature stones across its front.

An anniversary, a personal milestone, something entirely your own. Discover what eternity rings mean, how to wear them, and the modern pavé and multi-band alternatives bringing a different perspective to meaningful jewellery.

THE MEANING

What does an eternity ring mean?

An eternity ring symbolises enduring love and commitment. The circle represents a bond without an end, while the line of stones gives that sentiment a visible form. Traditionally, it marks a wedding anniversary or the arrival of a child.

A small circle. A rather big feeling.

When should you give an eternity ring?

No single anniversary is compulsory. Choose a moment that matters to you.

An anniversary.

One year, ten years, or a date only the two of you remember. A ring can celebrate everything you have shared and everything still to come.

A new chapter.

The arrival of a child, a renewed commitment or the beginning of something you want to remember. Let the meaning belong to the people wearing it.

Something for yourself.

You can buy an eternity ring for yourself, too. A personal milestone deserves marking; so does finding a piece you know you will wear.

Prefer a more sculptural expression of connection? Galleria Armadoro’s linked and multi-band rings offer a modern alternative to a traditional eternity band, with interlocking shapes, mixed metals and pavé details.

THE LOOKS / THE RING EDIT

A modern expression of connection.

Interlocking bands, mixed metals and pavé: a modern way to mark a moment, with plenty of personality. Here is how we wear them.

KNOW YOUR RING

Full eternity or half eternity?

A full eternity ring has stones around the entire band. A half eternity ring has stones across the front, with a plain metal section underneath. Both can carry the same meaning; the choice comes down to how you like your ring to look and feel.

Full vs half eternity rings, at a glance
The detail Full eternity Half eternity
Stone coverage Stones run all the way around the band. Stones usually cover the upper half of the band.
The look A continuous line of sparkle, even when the ring turns. Sparkle across the front; the plain section may show if the ring turns.
The feel Settings continue beneath the finger. Check how they feel when you bend your hand. A plain underside. Comfort still depends on the band’s width, thickness and setting.
Resizing Usually difficult or impossible. Confirm the fit before buying. Possible for some designs. Ask the jeweller about the specific ring.
Price Usually higher when comparing similar metals, stones and settings. Often lower, although stone quality and total carat weight also matter.

And where do linked rings fit?

Linked rings connect separate bands. Pavé describes small stones set closely together. A design can have both features without being a traditional eternity ring.

For a more sculptural way to wear the sentiment, explore connected bands, mixed metals and a little pavé. The meaning is yours to give them.

THE STYLING NOTES

How to wear an eternity ring.

An eternity ring is often worn on the ring finger alongside engagement and wedding rings. You can also wear it on the right hand or another finger that fits comfortably. Choose the placement that works with the rings you already love.

Let one ring lead.

One substantial ring can do most of the work. Add a finer band, or keep a neighbouring finger bare to give the shape some space.

Mix your metals.

A two-tone ring connects gold and silver finishes. Repeat one of those tones elsewhere in the stack for an easy sense of balance.

Leave room to move.

Try the combination with your fingers relaxed and bent. If it feels tight or the settings press together, spread the rings across different fingers.

For a modern version of the stacked look, take a cue from Dimitra’s daily rotation.

THE LONG-TERM RELATIONSHIP

A little care. A lasting favourite.

The right routine depends on your ring’s metal, finish and stones. For the plated and pavé GA styles in these Looks, keep things gentle.

Give it a moment off.

Remove your ring before showering, swimming, exercise or housework. Keep perfume, lotions, hand sanitiser and cleaning products away from its finish.

Keep the clean gentle.

Wipe with a soft, dry cloth after wear. Follow the care instructions on your chosen ring’s product page, especially for plated finishes and stone-set designs.

A place of its own.

Store your ring separately in a soft pouch or jewellery box to limit rubbing against other pieces. Your favourite stack can spend the night apart.

Aftercare, with us.

GA offers a two-year warranty and complimentary repairs for eligible wear-and-tear issues on jewellery bought from our online store. Eligible gold vermeil pieces also qualify for complimentary replating within two years. See our policy for eligibility, shipping and services after the warranty period.

A FEW GOOD QUESTIONS

Before you make it yours.

Is an eternity ring the same as a wedding ring?

A wedding ring marks a marriage; an eternity ring is defined by its row of stones and is often given for an anniversary or another milestone. An eternity-style band can be chosen as a wedding ring, so the roles can overlap.

Can you wear an eternity ring if you are not married?

Yes. You can wear one to mark a relationship, a personal achievement or simply because you love the design. Marriage is not a requirement, and neither is waiting for someone else to buy it.

Does an eternity ring have to have diamonds?

No. Diamonds are a traditional choice, but eternity rings can use other gemstones. Pavé describes a setting of small, closely placed stones; it does not tell you which stone is used. Check each product’s material and stone details before choosing.

Are linked rings and eternity rings the same?

No. Linked rings connect separate bands or elements; eternity rings are characterised by a row of stones around all or part of a band. GA’s linked and multi-band designs offer a sculptural alternative with a stacked look. Explore our guide to linked and multi-band rings.

How do I find my ring size in the UK or US?

Use our ring size guide to compare EU, UK and US sizing, then check the sizes offered on your chosen ring’s product page. Measure the finger you intend to wear it on, and follow any fit guidance for that design.

Can an eternity ring be resized?

Full eternity rings are generally difficult or impossible to resize because stones surround the band. Some half eternity designs can be resized, depending on their construction and materials. Galleria Armadoro does not offer ring resizing, so check your size before ordering.
