  1. Start with a two-strand stack.

Fashion minimalists, this is for you. If you're a newbie, start with a two-strand Neck Story. Each chain has to be similar in thickness, and if you have a charm necklace or pendant, lay at the bottom. We’re going for that cool girl who threw these two chains together without thinking about it.

Make sure each necklace is laying stacked and not in one big clump.

2.Switch Up Lengths

When layering, you want all your beautiful chains to be seen. To keep them from hiding underneath one another, try switching up the lengths.

Your shortest necklace is your foundation. Everyone has a certain necklace length that is most flattering, so it’s essential to experiment and see which one works for you.

Start with a choker, such as theGigior the35cm Cara, orlarge link, add a mid-length and last a longer style. For example, when going for a three-strand Neck Story, have in mind that the focus is at the top and the bottom. The mid-length necklace will balance out your Neck Story and give it dimension and definition. For example: if you layer a choker with a 45cm necklace - such as anyzodiac- a bold, textured chain like theGilda will add balance and frame the top and bottom pieces.

You can either go for chunky chains or throw on a bunch of dainty styles; no worries: it will still pack the same polished punch.

3. DIY a statement necklace

Charm necklaces are back! This trend brings playfulness and nostalgia to any jewellery story, and it doesn’t need to be worn solo.

Adding acharm necklace is a great way to make your layering more playful and meaningful, and you can shop custom options, likezodiac charms, to personalise your look.

You can either layer your charm necklaces or mix them up.

If you opt for the charms club only, then leave a space of 2-3 cm between layers. The 40-50-70 cm combo is the most popular.

If you’re into mixing it up, follow all the rules in step 2.

With theCharms Club collection, you can build a unique charm cluster that no others will have. Start with one of our signaturetags to ground your necklace. Then add one or more charms. All charms are meant to cluster together and float loosely on yourchain.

The Final Rule: The Are No Rules

In the end, layering necklaces should be fun. You have read and followed the golden rules to get you started. Now, it’s time to have fun with it. Start pilling up on dainty chains, heavy chains, and statement necklaces and build a unique look that tells your story. You don't need a fashion stylist to achieve the effortless, it-girl look. All you need is practice.

How To Keep Your Necklaces From Tangling.

You have followed the rules and have built a unique layered necklace look- or a Neck Story as we call it. Now, we don't want it to look like one big clump, do we?

Here are a few tips and tricks that we put together to help them from tangling!

  • Make sure they're at least 2cm apart. The closer they are in length, the more likely they'll tangle.
  • Unclasp the necklace and dangle it from one side to get all the twists out. In that way, we make sure that the necklace doesn't already have twists. If it has before we put it on, it will tangle even more.
  • Use necklaces with different textures and widths. Apart from making your layered look more interesting, it won't tangle as much as necklaces with the same chain.
  • Put on daintier chains first, and then chunky necklaces and pendants. Chunky chains stay in place and weigh down the daintier ones and keep them from tangling.

Even if you follow all of the tricks above, the necklaces can still get naturally get tangled due to movement.

The layered necklace look is a jewellery trend you can't mess up, so go ahead, reach into your jewellery box, and get started.
